Popis: | 103 This study aims to gain an insight into the current situation of the background characteristics of domestic table tennis referees and their professional accomplishment. The differences in the professional accomplishment of table tennis referees with different background variables were explored, which shall be provided for domestic table tennis referees in order for them to seek self-growth and enhance the quality of table tennis competitions and overall professional image. The questionnaire survey method was adopted, which was modified and compiled into the research tool in this study, specifically “The questionnaire survey of the professional accomplishment of table tennis referees”. This questionnaire consists of two parts: “basic information” and “table tennis referees professional accomplishment scale”. With the referees who involved in various domestic table tennis competitions of all levels over the past three years, namely, 2012, 2013, and 2014, as research participants, purposive sampling was adopted. A total of 105 official questionnaires were distributed, of which 82 were valid copies, accounting for the effective recovery rate of 78%. The SPSS for windows 22.0 Chinese Version Package Software was used to obtain data in this study. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and one-way ANOVA were used as methods for data processing and statistical analysis. The research findings are as follows: 1. The domestic table tennis referees are comprised mainly of men who fall under the 60-69 years old age category. The majority fall under college and non-PE related departments; most referees were unemployed (including retired). The distribution ratios of the referees of all levels were generally even; referees with 21 years (or higher) of work years comprised the majority. 2. The main participation motivation of the domestic table tennis referees is “interest”; most believe that the reward for participating in the work was “average”; the main attitude of the referees towards taking up supervisory posts was “neither supportive nor unsupportive”; mostly, their serve penalty standard was “based on the nature of the competition”; arranged in order, “low English proficiency”, “oversized overall age structure”, and “inconsistency between referee level and actual referee standard” are the main problems the referees believe current exist. 3. The domestic table referees’ perceived levels of professional accomplishment arranged by order are: “physical fitness”, “competition management”, “enforcement capabilities”, “mental qualities”, and “professional continuing education”. 4. As for differences in domestic table tennis referees’ level of professional accomplishment, significant differences were observed in highest education, PE related departments, referee level category, and referees’ number of work years. However, no significant differences were seen in gender, age and occupation. 5. Finally, based on the research findings and conclusions, relevant recommendations were put forth for competent authorities, the Chinese Taipei Table Tennis Association, and follow-up researchers, with the hope of facilitating the flourishing development for the sport of table tennis. |
