A Gravity Model on the Determinants of the International Patent Cooperation

| Popis: | 103 By using the panel data of 14 countries over the period of 1991-2012, this study explores the possible determinants of international patent cooperations in the Taiwanese semiconductor industry. The empirical results from the Poisson Pseudo Maximum-Likelihood analysis of an augmented graviety model show that the impacts of common language, capital distance, the strength of patent protection, foreign-owned patents, import, foreign direct investment and technological proximity on patent cooperations are positive, while the numbers of Taiwanese-owned patents, labor forces in Taiwan and foreign all negatively influence the patent cooperation. |
