Popis: | 102 Lee Ang’s “Visible Ghosts,” starting from the location Lukang, covers five revenge stories offive female ghosts located in the east, north, central, south and west of the country. In this paper, based on Lee Ang’s novel, we discuss the formation of ghosts, categories of ghosts, images of ghosts and the reasons why ghosts appear. We also find some resemblance to these five stories among classical literatures so that we can continue to discuss the scary image in the ghost story, and the reason why ghosts choose to exist in people’s world and give up to process to next life in these stories. In Lee Ang’s novel, the ghosts have significant traditional traits to show gratitude, to revenge, to fulfill their wish, and to find the answer oftheir lives. We find that these traits echo the ghost concepts discussed by traditional culture. "Why the women were victimized or treated unjustly? And what’s the identity of the victims?" We discuss the correlation between the reason why women were victimized and the characteristics of the woman identity. We discuss the idea how Lee Ang designs the five female ghosts identity and background and what Lee Ang wants to convey to the readers from three aspects, social hierarchical oppression, social norms and regulations produced by patriarchal society, and the misplacement of society roles. |
