Developing a Q-Methodology Study to Explore Nurses' Views on Evidence-Based Nursing Practices

Popis: | 102 Since 1990, the application of evidence-based scientific concepts has gradually extended from the medical field to the nursing field, and is considered an optimal method for teaching nurses to identify and understand clinical problems. Nurses have self-perceived inability to alter clinical measures by incorporating research results or a self-perceived lack of time to execute novel concepts. These subjective perceptions influence nurse intentions to execute evidence-based nursing in clinical practice. In this study, the Q methodology approach was adopted to explore staff views on evidence-based nursing. Comparing view of the type and content, and a 2-stage data collection design was adopted. During the first stage, in-depth interviews were conducted to establish a sample of nurses’ opinions relating to evidence-based nursing. Extraction Q statements from mother-group about the concept of evidence-based nursing. During the second stage, a series of Q sorts were performed to rank the relevant descriptions obtained from the nurses’ subjectively. The study participants were the nurses of a medical center and a regional teaching hospital in Northern Taiwan. We Invited 60 respondents to arranged 44 Q statements. Applications PQ method-analysis, and after factor analysis, The better results is four types. Total of 51 people can be classified into any one type, and explained variance of 42.5%. There are「type of expect support」、「type of external drive」、「type of professional values」、「type of capacity constraints」. Four types of nurses to explore nurses’ views on evidence-based nursing practice. This research will help explore the nurses’ views on promoting evidence-based nursing, type and content. This study aimed to identify and analyze the types of views relating to evidence-based nursing and to propose appropriate suggestions based on the results. The results can be used as a reference by hospitals in promoting evidence-based nursing. |
