This thesis focus on the interaction between social capital and personal income and expects to find out whether there are effects between these two variables through the research of empirical data. In this thesis, the definition of social capital is referred to Putnam (2000). By 14 indicators of social capital provided by Putnam and by the data set provided by "Taiwan Social Change Survey" in 2010, this thesis established a suitable social capital index for Taiwan to analyses the interaction between social capital and personal income. I also detect that whether geographic differences affect personal income and social capital by dividing Taiwan into four areas — north, middle, south, and east. The research find that the social capital has a significant positive effect on personal income, and the effect increases with the increase of social capital, however the personal income has no significant impact on social capital. Furthermore, geographic differences do have a significantly impact to both social capital and personal income.
