Fabrication and Investigation of the Bionic Compound Eyes Visual Image System

Popis: | 102 Polystyrene (PS) microspheres were synthesized by dispersion polymerization technique. A close-packed 2D PS crystals arrays can be arranged as both self-assembly dip-drawing and magnetic stirring methods were used simultaneously. A 2D concave PDMS (Polydimethylsiloxane) mold was fabricated by soft-lithography first, and then a flat PMMA (Poly methyl methacrylate) replicating film was obtained. Different biomimetic convex compound eyes films can be prepared by a thermoplastic process. Not only calculating the optical properties of ommatidia of biomimetic compound eyes films, but we also applied them to construct a biomimetic visual system with CCD sensor and to evaluate their visual distance and field range. We found that highest hemisphere height of the convex compound eyes film in the biomimetic visual system, the most far visual distance and widest field range. In addition, the image quality of the convex compound eyes films was not affected by their hemisphere heights. The in-situ detective ability of the biomimetic visual system for the moving object also evaluated in this study. |
