In this research, we successfully prepared the mesoporous silica spheres by sol-gel method. We have used the potassium hexacyanoferrate (K3Fe(CN)6) as etching agent to get mesoporous hollow SiO2 spheres. In addition, the TiO2 nanoparticles were coated on the as-prepared SiO2 spheres as a carrier to prepare SiO2/TiO2 composite spheres by sol-gel method. Further, we also deposited Cu2ZnSnS4 nanocrystals on SiO2/TiO2 composite spheres to form SiO2/TiO2/CZTS composite spheres by chemical solution method.Because it was hard to prepare mesoporous hollow silica spheres and the yield of it was low,we chosen mesoporous silica spheres as carrier to do the photocatalytic and adsorbent experiment. This study can be divided into four parts. The first part explained the preparation of different sizes of mesoporous silica spheres. We prepared the SiO2 spheres with different sizes from 150 to 650 nm by using different concentration of CTAB.BET results showed that the active surface area SiO2 spheres was 1300 m2/g. The second part demonstrated the preparation of mesoporous hollow SiO2 spheres. The potassium hexacyanoferrate was used to etching SiO2 spheres. We obtained hollow SiO2 spheres as confirmed by TEM. The third part explained the coating of TiO2 nanoparticles on SiO2 spheres. The prepared SiO2/TiO2 composite spheres were used for the degradation of AB 1 dye under irradiation of UV. From XRD, UV spectra and EDS result, we can know the SiO2/TiO2 composite spheres with high content of TiO2 nanoparticles had the best photocatalytic activity. The final part demonstrated the deposition of Cu2ZnSnS4 nanocrystals on SiO2/TiO2 composite spheres. The prepared CZTS deposited SiO2/TiO2 composite spheres were used for adsorption of AB 1 dye. The SiO2/TiO2/CZTS composite spheres could adsorb 50 mL of 10 ppm of Acid Black 1 dye solution within 15min.
