This thesis propose three kinds of high speed I/O connectors design. The first design is two-layered quad small form-factor pluggable transceiver (QSFP) connector which can offer 2 times the data rate of original QSFP+ in the same space of the chassis with four-channel package and it supports speeds up to 12Gbps per channel. The SFP transceiver can be used in switches, router, servers, etc.. The second design is nQSFP+1X1 connector which is the next generation SFP system, with upgrading the speeds from 12Gbps to 25Gbps per channel. The third design is about Mini SAS HD connector which is commonly used in the RAIDs server(Redundant Array of Individual Disk Server) with the data rate up to 12Gbps.In this thesis, electromagnetic simulation software is applied to analyze the effects of the structure on the proposed connectors. Both mechanical and electrical properties were taken into account to adjust the structure of the connector and make the proposed connectors fulfill their own specification. In addition, the verification performed in time-domain measurements and frequency-domain measurements. The time-domain measurements include time-domain reflection impedance and propagation delay and the differential reflection coefficient, differential transmission coefficient and the crosstalk can be obtained in the frequency-domain measurements. Finally, the eye-diagram analyses can be acquired from the channel simulation. The design principles and the verification methods applied to design of high speed I/O connectors will be presented in the thesis.
