In the job market, some may stay with their first job much longer than the others. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between the duration of first job and present career success. By controlling factors related to career success (i.e. duration of first job, seniority, degree, etc.), the present study use interval regression to measure how these factors have impacted on the objective career success. Participants were alumni from alumni of the Yuan-Ze University in different department (N = 730). We found that while holding seniority and college majors constant, the ones with longer duration their first job significantly gain higher wages than the shorter.
