The study of the effects of a positive behavior support plan to improve the behavior problems of the elementary school student with severe Autism Hsuan-Ju Huang Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of a functionally-based positive behavior support plan designed based on the execution process for an elementary school student with severe autism. To understand the change of behavior problems and positive behavior of the student with severe autism, the related experimental results such as adopting interviews, observations and single-subject experimental design with the multiple baseline design across behaviors have been collected. Then, the social validity of effects is confirmed by interviewing the important persons of the student. After combining and verifying the results of qualitative and quantitative information, the conclusions were indicated as follows: 1. The functional assessment can identify the behavioral problems of the object certainly. 2. A positive behavior support plan can be developed by the results of functional assessment for the object. 3. The positive behavior support plan can effectively reduce behavioral problems and increase the positive behaviors of the object. 4. The positive behavior support plan has good social validity.
