The purpose of this study is to explore whether the forced pressure and imitative pressure can respectively moderate the relationship between explorative learning and absorptive capacity. This study selects 93 electronics and information technology firms in Taiwan as the sample to apply the regression analysis. This study finds the following results: (1) A firm’s explorative learning has a positive effect on its absorptive capacity; (2) The forced pressure in alliance has a positive effect on a firm’s absorptive capacity; (3) The imitative pressure in alliance has a positive effect on a firm’s absorptive capacity; (4) The forced pressure can not moderate the positive relationship between explorative learning and absorptive capacity; (5) Imitative pressure positively moderates the relationship between explorative learning and absorptive capacity. Consequently, this study complements not only the evidence of the relationship between firm’s explorative learning and absorptive capacity but also the insufficient discussion about the effect of alliance institutional pressure to the relationship between explorative learning and absorptive capacity.
