Teaching performance of food agricultural education in primary school: Taipei Municipal Muzha Elementary School as an example

Popis: | 102 Under the influence of globalization, there have been many issues in food systems. Promotion of food agricultural education is important and urgent. COA has designed a lesson plan which is suitable for year 3-6 students in primary school. The researcher investigates the differences of student performance with adopting the lesson plan in class. Pre-test and post-test were used to measure students' knowledge, attitudes and behavior skills. Other qualitative documents about students were also collected. These data were analyzed to reveal performance of the lesson plans presented in Taipei Municipal Muzha Elementary School. Quantitative data shows that: In green diet culture aspect, there's significant impact on student's attitude and behavioral skills, but not in knowledge; In environmental conservation and health aspect, there's significant impact on student's knowledge and behavioral skills, but not in attitude; In social well-being aspect, there's significant impact on all three aspects. Qualitative data shows that students performed good in all 10 indicators among four aspects. Generally speaking, the lesson plan perform well. With the findings, the researcher provides 3 suggestions for the teaching instructions. (a) Adjust lesson plans on concept about food miles according to the teaching target. (b) Adjust polling procedures in lesson events on food industry activity. (c) Make flexible adjustment according to teaching purpose. The researcher also offer 2 suggestions to the follow-up research. (a) Arrange more farming and vegetable selling events for metropolitan primary school.
