The Development of Scale for Quality of Life:A Case of Hemodialysis Patients

Quality of life (QOL) is an important indicator for health evaluation. In recent years, the incidence of end stage renal failure in Taiwan continued to be the world's first and most important treatment. Though, there are many domestic and foreign-related quality of life scales, but it can not reflect different cultural background and contains excessive number of measurements, Therefore, it affects the correctness.This study is develop hemodialysis scale of Taiwan version in order to understand the quality of life in hemodialysis patients in Taiwan living conditions.Cross-sectional study with purposive random sampling was applied at a specific medical center in northern Taiwan. Through 15 interviews and literature analysis, the scale was tested based on the procedure of content validity index, item analysis, pre-test. The test was performed twice for the 220 effective questionnaires, then descriptive analysis, and confirmatory factor analysis was conducted and reduces the questionnaire to 13-item version. The Results: CFA model revealed nice fit of goodness. The absolute fit index, comparatively fit index and Jane efficient adaptation index are in compliance with appropriate degrees with the following construct: Physical functioning, Psychological, Leisure and activities.This scale has quite good results. We can gain a better understanding of the life quality of Taiwanese dialysis patients for guidance of associated medical care and to improve these patients’ life quality and health.
