Study of Picturebooks Teaching Experience in Public Kindergarten Classrooms in Kaohsiung

Popis: | 102 The studies of kindergarten teachers’ using picturebooks have been increasing in the past few years, the researches have been proved to be in favor of the use. This study aims to discuss the teaching strategies, beliefs and relative studies involving picturebooks use in public preschools in Kaohsiung city. The research included several in-depth interviews in qualitative of the public preschools teachers as interviewers in order to understand the application of picturebooks in class so as to benefit teachers in the future. The conclusion of the study can be listed as below. 1. Preschool teachers’teaching belief in curriculum design by using picturebooks: (1) Picturebooks contain high-quality illustrative narratives and can entice young learners into in-class activities. (2) The information provides in the books can broaden children’s real life experiences and encourage creativity. (3) Young children take interest in picturebooks and like them. It's easy to arouse children's learning zeal and passuon. (4) Using pictures can also facilitate young children’s learning skills and involve children into topic teaching. (5) Picturebooks provide young learners with abundant resources for problem-solving and provide specific resourses and experiences which activate group topic teaching discussion between teachers and students. (6) Picturebooks improve young children’s meaning-making, creativity, and imagination and provide in-depth discussion and diverse content. (7) Picturebooks pictures enhance language skills. 2. Preschool teachers’ teaching strategies in curriculum design by using picturebooks. (1) Proceed with relative exercises. (2) Arrange field-trips concerning topic learning. (3) Setup classroom learning environment relative to Picturebooks. 3. Preschool teachers’ teaching difficulties and solutions in curriculum design by using picturebooks: The teachers in the study encounter different difficulties, however, according to the interview findings, the problems and strategies applied have been thoroughly analyzed. Several suggestions are provided for teachers and future research. |
