Fast Game-Based Handoff Mechanism for Macro-Femtocell Networks with Load Balancing

Popis: | 102 Since the development of technologies for Femtocell networks, signal quality can be significantly improved in indoor. Sine femtocell and macrocell are deployed in a coexisted heterogeneous network, handoff between macrocell and femtocell turns out to be a major design issue. In general, conventional handoff mechanisms select a FBS (femtocell base station) in the handoff procedure solely based on the RSSI (received signal strength indicator), SINR (signal to interference plus noise ratio), or SNR (signal to noise ratio). Although this approach is very simple and easy to implement, it results in the load unbalance among the FBSs. In this thesis, we develop a novel game-based handoff mechanism combining MDA (Modified Dutch Auction) and SEP (Stochastic Election Process) that jointly takes the signal quality and load balance into consideration in FBS selection. Besides, in order to speed up the execution time of SEP and reduce the probability of handoff failure, we further incorporate Fast SEP and Go Back B into the original SEP. Simulation results confirm that better load balance is achieved by the proposed MDA and SEP. Furthermore, the execution time of SEP and the probability of miss failure are also greatly improved by Fast SEP and Go Back B, respectively. |
