Popis: | 102 Over the past years motels in Taiwan have been improved and refined to not only provide adequate accommodation but also public entertainment and recreation facilities. As a result, motels have become places where leisure activities are pursued. This paper presents a discussion of Perceived Risk and Leisure Benefits regarding different types of motel customer. The first part investigates the distribution of Perceived Risk and Leisure Benefits for motel customers. The second part analyzes the difference between these two variables in different types of customer. The last part presents an analysis of the correlation between Perceived Risk and Leisure Benefits. It was difficult to obtain samples because of the privacy concerns that most customers displayed. Therefore a snowball sampling method was adopted to collect data from blogs, Facebook, Ptt (a famous bulletin board system in Taiwan), and the researcher’s relatives and friends. Participants were asked to complete an online survey. Data were collected between 24th March, 2014 and 8th June, 2014. A total number of 284 samples were collected and 150 were determined as valid. Samples were determined invalid if participants had never attended a party or activity in a motel. Based on the valid samples, most the participants were female, 18–30 years old, unmarried, college educated, and earned incomes between 20000 and 40000 (NTD) per month. The results of this study indicate that (1) motel customers perceived a higher risk in Time risk, Performance risk, and Physical risk. (2) The average score in Leisure Benefits is close to 4, indicating that people agreed that Leisure Benefits are generated by party activities held in a motel. Psychological benefits and Relaxation benefits exhibited the highest and aesthetic benefits the lowest scores. In the distribution of aesthetic benefits the measures of dispersion were relatively large; this might be because aesthetics is more subjective than other variables. (3) Participants with good or very good motel party experience perceived higher physiological benefits, relaxation benefits, aesthetic benefits, educational benefits, and psychological benefits than those with so-so experience. (4) Both performance risk and time risk were negatively correlated to most of the leisure benefits construct. |
