In recent years, people are increasingly stringent in the requirements of quality, especially in the appearance of the product. Increasing customer complaints because of bad appearance. In the past, people almost rely on the experience in trial and error method to set the process parameters and processing conditions. But if the use of inappropriate process parameters lead to product defects, will be unable to meet customer demand. Instable process will increase the burden of production time and defective products. The company explain that electrostatic coating product quality defect rate is too high, causing the cost gradually increase, compressing business survival space. Therefore, using the Taguchi method to improve the electrostatic painting process, assuming that it can improve process capability and reduce its defective rate, helping control the cost of quality in order to increase the competitiveness of enterprises. Taguchi method is advantage of low cost, high efficiency and quantitative indicators of good quality design work, becoming an effective implementation of good quality engineering. Experimental results show that the original 0.10 Cpk value increased to 1.05,defective rate of product was 40% due to the generation of particles, down to about 8% after improvement. Quality and cost-saving aspects of internal failure costs can be decreased the cost of $51,200, the part of external failure costs can be decreased by 142,400, in other words, this study combined with Taguchi DMAIC methodology for process quality improvement, Electrostatic painting actually improve the quality of products. With a combination of Taguchi method application helping the company the ability to effectively enhance product quality, also expected to provide an important reference to the relevant industry to enhance the quality and method of making a planning decision.
