The study on analog voltage and current mode biquadratic filters

In this thesis, three analog universal biquadratic filters by using multiple outputs second-generation current conveyors or fully differential second-generation current conveyors are proposed. The first proposed current-mode universal biquadratic filter uses three multiple-output second-generation current conveyors, two grounded resistors and two grounded capacitors. The circuit can realize lowpass, bandpass, highpass, bandreject and allpass filtering responses, simultaneously, with low-input and high-output impedances. The second proposed current-mode universal biquadratic filter uses three plus-type multiple-output second-generation current conveyors, two grounded capacitors and two grounded resistors by MOSFET-based electronic resistors. The MOSFET-based resistors act as two grounded resistors suitable for electronic tunability with control voltage applied to the gate. Moreover, both the proposed current-mode filters enjoy (i) employment all grounded passive elements, (ii) no need component-matching conditions, (iii) no need to employ inverting-type current input signals, and (iv) low active and passive sensitivities. The third proposed voltage-mode universal biquadratic filter uses two fully differential second-generation current conveyors, two grounded capacitors and two resistors. The circuit offers the following advantageous features: (i) employment all grounded passive elements (ii) simultaneously realize voltage-mode lowpass, bandpass, highpass, bandreject and allpass filter signals from the five output terminals, respectively, (iii) no need to impose component choice conditions, (iv) no need to employ inverting type input voltage signals, (v) high input impedance and (vi) low active and passive sensitivity performances. Finally, we use HSpcie to prove the accuracy of the circuit with TSMC 0.18 µm 1P6M process technology. The results show close agreement between theory and simulation.
