An Experimental Study on palm shell Gasification in a Fluidized Bed

This thesis discusses the factor that the palm shell which is a biomass fuel gasifies in bubble fluidized bed. The primarily influential factor is gasified temperature which is 600℃~800℃, Equivalence Ratio(ER ratio) is 0.2~0.4, catalysts are calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide, and the content of steam is 1.8kg/hr. From experimental result, carbon dioxide will rise by increasing temperature, dropping by increasing ER; besides, hydrogen will drop by enhancing ER value. Adding calcium oxide contributes to drop the amount of carbon dioxide, so hydrogen increase by raising temperature. Adding calcium hydroxide, hydrogen will decrease by increasing ER value, increasing by temperature. Using steam-air gasification and adding the CO2 absorbent, because main reaction is methanation by adding steam, the content of hydrogen is not well than not adding steam; however, steam can motivate calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide to absorb carbon dioxide. When gasified temperature is 800℃, and ER value is 0.2, we can obtain more syngas and lower carbon dioxide. This study obtains better condition is gasified temperature is 700℃, and ER value is 0.2; the better condition in adding calcium oxide and calcium hydroxide is gasified temperature is 800℃, and ER value is 0.2. When in adding steam, and adding CO2 absorbent, the better condition is gasified temperature is 800℃, and ER value is 0.2.
