In integrated optics, directional couplers are the most popular components. The traditional directional couplers with uniformly symmetric structures are utilized to optical power splitters, wavelength demultiplexers, and polarization splitters. However, the output performances are sensitive to the gap of the waveguides. Usually, small change of the gap will result in large deviation of the output power. Therefore, fine control of the operation parameters is the most significant issue for designer of devices. In the paper, we propose the applications of point-symmetric directional couplers for two-dimensional photonic crystals to optical power splitters. When energy of the optics field enters into the input waveguide and couples to the output waveguide through one-time coupling. Using the concept of directional coupler when the energy of the optics field enters into the input waveguide and couples to the output waveguide to achieve the result of splitting.
