The Development of Roll to Roll Machine for Thin Film PLED Device

Flexible electronics technology is used in producing many electronic products. It is suggested to use roll to roll (R2R) process to produce flexible electronic products, which could provide a lot of advantages such as minimized scale of production line, lower cost and higher production. According to the different coating types and feeding ways, we have built near one hundred designs of the R2R machine in this research. Finally, we have developed the third generation R2R machine, which is a new type, with small-scale, and more flexible advantages, also with automatic control shield, Arduino, which could be utilized to manufacture PLED (Polymer Light-Emitting Devices). In the producing process, the PEDOT:PSS, light emitting polymers and cathode materials were used to make PLED thin film device. The coating types of production line are all in solution processing. The experiment results show that the PLED thin film device’s turn on voltage and current are DC 4.0V and 0.04A, and the efficient emitting area is near 30%, which was manufactured by the third generation R2R machine.
