The Research of Influence by Family Support to the Resident Acclimatization in the Halfway House — For Example of Taoyuan Counties

Popis: | 102 Halfway House located in the community plays a role as a relay station while persons with mental illness leave hospital and prepare to go home. It provides a home for the homeless or people who are not suitbale to live with their families temporarily for some reason. And supported by the community with a real life environment, persons with mental illness can be here in the context of community life, through mutual adjustments, tolerance and support, re-learning to build relationships with others, resocialization, expand their social networks. The residents in Halfway House mainly are chronic persons with mental illness which include schizophrenia, affective mental illness, paranoid type, and other organic mental illness. Such patients after a proper medical procedures yet to heal. When the paitents’ condition enter to the process of chronicity of the disease, it can cause a career interruption, loss of social function, and inability to cope with daily living, such as acclimatization disorder.Family support and interaction attitude found in previous studies with the rehabilitation of persons with mental illness and recurrent highly correlated. Family support is to play, not only affects the individual physical and psychological needs met, but also affect social order. Persons with mental illness will face greater pressure of acclimatization on that issue. To face this pressure, family support is an important factor to adjust the pressure. However, the observation of residents in Halfway House can be found that, because of the different sources of each resident and family in different roles to support their family situation caused by slight differences. Currently doing the research themes of residents in the Halfway House based on their assessment of different family support is not much. And different family support for those residents in Halfway House whether is going to affect the acclimatization is still unknown. Therefore, this study uses the family support function scale to assess residents in Halfway House who live in different kinds of family support. In addition, also by Life Adjustment Scale, really evaluate the acclimatization of residents in Halfway House. Finally, by statistical analysis, to explore the influence of acclimatization through different family support for the residents in Halfway House. This study used questionnaire survey, select 10 Halfway Houses in Taoyuan county issued a total of 184 questionnaires and were recovered 179 questionnaires. After SPSS 22.0 for analysis, the following results have been concluded. First, family support will have significant differences owing to the different ages of the residents in Halfway House. Second, acclimatization will have significant differences due to the different gender, age, education level and diagnostic category of the residents in Halfway House. Third, emotional support and instrumental support in family support and overall degree of family support and relationships in acclimatization, life in Halfway House, character adaptation and overall acclimatization has positively correlated. Fourth, the years of education will have significant influence to the relationships, life in Halfway House and overall acclimatization. Fifth, the marital relationship and diagnostic categories for the character adaptation has significant influence. Sixth, the material support for relationships, time allocation and overall acclimatization has significant influence. Seven, emotional support for character adaptation and overall acclimatization has significant influence. Based on the findings, specific recommendations are as follows: First, the link of the relationship between the family and the residents in Halfway House has provided more family support such as emotional support, instrumental support and others to help the residents in Halfway House’s acclimatization in the community. Second, the concept of Halfway House is a home. It’s enviromental design and emotional and instrumental support provided by the care personnel help to make its residents get a more complete family support and to improve the residents in the Halfway House’s acclimatization in the community. |
