The effect of physical activity and sleep quality on physical and psychological health among pregnant women in Taiwan

Popis: | 101 This study aimed to analyze the pregnant women in Taiwan physical activity and sleep quality and physical and psychological health related factors. The Beck Depression Inventory-Second Edition(BDI-II), Pregnancy Physical Activity Questionnaire(PPQA) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) were used to collect data.SPSS for Windows 17.0 was used to analysis data.There were 1,497 pregnant women answered the questionnaire which yields the response rate of 93.5%. The majority of participants were in their third trimmer. The result of physical health related on residence, age, occupation, education level, personal monthly income, at delivery and birth, exercise frequency, exercise time, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep disturbances, use of sleeping pills and daily functioning is a reach statistical significant difference. The result of psychological health related on residence, occupation, education level, marriage status, nationality, parity and pregnancy at delivery and birth, exercise frequency, exercise time, exercise intensity, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance, use of sleeping pills and daily functioning is a reach statistical significant difference. In place of residence, age, occupation, education level, personal monthly income, parity, exercise frequency, exercise time, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep disturbances, use of sleeping pills and daytime functioning or not for the physical health status as predictors, which explained variance was 17.5%, indicating that live in the central region, and daytime functioning well and has no monthly income pregnant women help to improve the physical health status. In place of residence, occupation, education, marriage status, nationality, parity, pregnancy, whether the exercise before pregnancy, during pregnancy or without exercise, exercise frequency, exercise duration, exercise intensity, sleep quality is good, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep time, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbances, use of sleeping pills and daytime functioning or mental health status as predictors, which explained 43.4%, indicating that when individuals poorer subjective sleep quality, exercise intensity, the weaker, sleep disturbances, the more the higher maternal psychological tendency toward depression. Providing about physical activity and sleep changes during pregnancy information, enhance skills for the assessment of quality of sleep and sleep management, providing individualized, appropriateness of care measures to improve physical activity and sleep quality. From a health point of view and to propose appropriate to promote physical activity and methods of providing individualized, appropriateness of care measures, to promote the pregnancy period of physical and psychological health. |
