'Surround'-An Animation Creation of the Image in Chinese Characters

| Popis: | 101 Chinese characters have matured over millenniums and have acquired profound artistic charm and cultural depth. However, the Chinese ideogram has also evolved to be increasingly abstract overtime, to the point where each character''s original image meaning became altered or replaced. As the Chinese designing scene gained increasing international recognition in recent years, Chinese characters unavoidably became an incorporated design element and cultural representation. This project shall focus on characters containing the「Seal」radical as the main design elements and hope to communicate through animation that legacies and innovation lead to cultural development. The design process respects tradition but innovates by showing that Chinese characters can transcend their usual static, graphical representation and become dynamic animations. Emphasis was also placed on the characters'' additional qualities and image while animated. The purpose of this animation is to explore the image within Chinese characters by analysing their concepts through the organization, categorization, and experimentation of kinetic typography, and in doing so clearly present the true facets of Chinese characters beyond their shape and line structure. We wish for the results to serve as reference for future design and studies of Chinese characters. |
