A Study on Managerial Performance of Credit Department of Farmer Association: The Case of Costal Regions of Changhua,Yunlin, and Chiayi

| Popis: | 101 Established on January 30, 2004, after the Agriculture Finance Act was implemented, Agricultural Bank of Taiwan has become the upper body of the credit department of farmers association. Farmers association’s credit department can run the credit business, under the auspices of Agriculture Bank of Taiwan, to compete with commercial banks. Moreover, financial supervision system and central deposit insurance mechanism also significantly mitigate operation hazard and boost the general confidence on credit departments. This study mainly explores the effect of Agricultural Finance Act on the operation efficiency of the credit department of farmers association of coastal region among major agricultural production counties. Specifically, this study examines whether the implementation of Agriculture Finance and the establishment of Agriculture Bank of Taiwan can improve the operation efficiency of farmers association’s credit departments in the coastal regions among counties of Changhua, Yunlin and Chiayi. The empirical sample covers eleven coastal credit departments in Changhua Yunlin and Chiayi counties, spanning from 2004 to 2012. The statistical analysis mainly processed by t test and regression analysis. The study finds that, after the implementing Agriculture Finance Act and the establishing Agriculture Bank of Taiwan, net worth and asset size of credit departments can entail significantly positive effect on their business operation. Therefore, a potential remedy for poorly performed credit departments might center on organizational restructure and strategic development to accumulate and attract capital. |
