Swimming facilities have great influence on the learning of swimming skills, and while the government is promoting students’ swimming learning, it can be one of the keys to influence students’ learning whether there are swimming pools at schools or at townships or not. Miaoli is a county which is lack of swimming facilities, and there’s only one school having its own swimming pool, and 44% of the townships in Miaoli have no swimming pools. The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlations among learning motivation, swimming teaching, and leisure sports attitude of the grade five and six students in Miaoli County. Based on the questionnaire method, the grade five and six elementary school students were randomly sampled in the eighteen townships, and 485 samples were valid. Data was analyzed with descriptive statistical analysis, independent-samples t test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, and regression analysis by SPSS for Windows 18.0. The results are as follows: (1) 77.1% of the grade five and six students learn how to swim in their swimming lessons at school. 51.4% of the students learn how to swim before grade four, and 82.9% have the swimming coaches while learning. The number of the students who cannot finish 15 meters is higher than that of those who can. 66% of the students need their parents’ help to pick them up to the pools, and 58.4% don’t swim regularly every week. Every time when they go to the swimming pools, 26.8% of the students spend 61 to 120 minutes in swimming, and 16.3% spend less than 100 dollars. (2) Learning motivation on reward, interests, achievement and health can enhance leisure sports attitude on adaptability, sports skills and leisure interests by strengthening swimming teaching on affection, skills and cognition. Swimming teaching on affection, skills and cognition have significantly positive mediating effects on learning motivation on interests, achievement and health and on leisure sports attitude on adaptability, skills and interests. (3) The structure constraints in learning have moderating effects on the affection and skills of swimming teaching and on the interests of leisure sports attitude. (4) Overall, the grade five and six students have less swimming learning behavior on affection and skills under the environment of no swimming facilities. The students’ motivation of swimming learning comes mainly from the factors of interests, achievement and health, and their leisure sports attitude on adaptability, sports skills and leisure interests can be enhanced by strengthening their swimming learning on cognition.
