Preparation of Eectrospun Hollow Fibrous Membrane of Poly-hydroxybutyrate-co-hydroxyvalerate Extracted from Haloferax mediterranei

Popis: | 101 In this study, we produce biodegradable polymer PHA (Polyhydroxyalkanoates) from the biomass of Haloferax mediterranei. The PHA has been co-axial electrospinning to make the proper nano-fiber biomaterials or hollow-fiber membrane for the future medical application. PHA used in this study was estimated as PHBV (poly-hydroxybutyrate-co- hydroxyvalerate) structure with maximum 16.8% of HV fraction. In the process of the electrospinning, viscosity of PHBV solution was selected as the major factor to control and improve the stability of electrical spinning process for PHBV electrospun-fiber membrane. The degradation test of PHBV electrospun-fiber membrane was simulated by using phosphate buffer solution. After 28 days test, the weight of PHBV electrospun-fiber membrane lost 33.3±1.96 %. The Aligned PHBV hollow fiber membrane was prepared under optimum conditions by co-axial electrospinning, in which the measured hollow fiber size as 24±3 × 9±1 μm2, and the size of aperture in the membrane surface as 0.6±0.2 μm. The particular structure of PHBV electrospun-fiber membrane or aligned PHBV hollow fiber membrane in this study is espected to the medical application of biomolecules penetration, drug delivery, and enzyme immobilization. |
