Reuse of Cement-Stabilized Municipal Incinerator Fly Ash in Concrete Block

Popis: | 101 In this study, cement-stabilized incinerator fly ash is used to replace part of aggregates to manufacture concrete blocks for the purpose of recycling. The main chemical composition of S/S fly ash is Ca and Si. S/S fly ash was pretreated (drying and crushing) before experiment. This study describes use of Taguchi design of experiments to find a optimal combinations of turning parameters like particle size of S/S fly ash, amount of blast furnace slag added, W/B, particle size of glass aggregate. Using experimental molding machine to produce concrete block specimens. Compressive strength test is performed after 28 days of curing at room temperature. Evaluate the affect of different parameters on the compressive strength of concrete blocks, and using the 28 days specimens which had maximum compressive strength for the test of long-term leaching of heavy metals. The results showed that the 28 days highest compressive strength of concrete blocks up to 440.7 kgf/cm2, reached CNS 3930 standard (250 kgf/cm2). Taguchi design of experiments, response surface analysis and ANOVA showed that W/B had the maximal influence on 28-day compressive strength, whereas particle size of glass aggregate had minimal influence on 28-day compressive strength. In addition, the results of column leaching test (NIEA R219.10C) and tank leaching test (NIEA R217.10C) showed the leaching of Pb, Zn, Cr, Cd and Cu from concrete block specimens is lower than the Netherlands BMD standard, indicated that heavy metals contained in concrete blocks have long-term stability, the product is environment compatible. JIS K0058 leaching test showed that the higher the compressive strength, the lower the leaching of heavy metals. |
