Effects of Personality Traits, Work Values, Organizational Climate, and Job Satisfaction on Turnover Intention for Different Generation Employees

This research aims to explore the effects of personality traits, work values, job satisfaction, and organizational climate on turnover intention of different generation employees so as to help entrepreneur for proposing the management strategy. The questionnaire was conducted for data collection and statistical analysis. The research subjects were 200 employees of different generations and the effective recovery rate of return questionnaires was 97%. The questionnaire included demographic, internal-external locus control scale, work value scale, job satisfaction scale, organizational climate scale, and turnover intention scale. The statistical software package: SPSS 19.0 for windows was used for data analysis. Statistical analysis included: frequencies, percentage, standard deviation, F-test, one way ANOVA, Scheffe's tests, Pearson product-moment correlation, and regression analysis. The research results showed that personality traits had no significant effects on turnover intention, work values had a significant effect on turnover intentions, organizational climate had no significant effect on turnover intention, job satisfaction had a significant effect on turnover intention, and there was no significant difference on turnover intention of different generations. Besides, organizational climate and job satisfaction had the significant effects on turnover intention of different generations. Employees born in the 60’s were easier to influence the turnover intention because of extrinsic satisfaction (ex: promotion opportunity, monetary compensation, recognition and etc.) than other generations. Employees born in the 70’s considered not only job satisfaction but also job values in determining turnover intention.
