A Study on Leisure Activity Participation and LeisureConstraints of Nursing Staff in the Hualien County,Taiwan

The purpose of this study was to understand the status quo of leisure activity participation and leisure constraints of nursing staff in Hualien, as well as the correlation and path relationship between them. This study provided 503questionnaires for nursing staff in Hualien. 487 valid ones were obtained. The effective rate was 96.82%.The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis, path analysis and other statistical methods. The results were summarized as follows: 1. In the sample structure, the majority of nursing staff in Hualien were mainly not married; people aged 26 to 30 years old was the most; the education level was mostly bachelor’s degree; the average income was mostly NT 40,001-50,000 per month; the average seniority was mostly over 5 years. 2. For nursing staff in Hualien, the highest level of agreement for leisure activity participation was “shopping”. 3. For nursing staff in Hualien, the level of agreement of leisure activity participation from highest-to-lowest were "outdoor leisure", "art", "social", "sports" and “"family leisure”. In the dimensions of leisure activity participation, the highest level of agreement is “outdoor IV leisure”. 4. For nursing staff in Hualien, the highest level of agreement for leisure constraints was that “I tend to participant those new leisure activities that don't take much skill.” 5. For nursing staff in Hualien, the level of agreement of leisure constraints from highest-to-lowest were "inner qualities", " interpersonal relationship" and “structure”. In the dimensions of leisure constraints, the highest level of agreement was “inner qualities”. 6. For different age groups of nursing staff in Hualien, significant differences were shown in “art” of the dimensions of leisure activity participation. For different education level groups of nursing staff in Hualien, "significant differences were shown in "family leisure", "art" and "sports" of the dimensions of leisure activity participation. 7. For different monthly income groups of nursing staff in Hualien, significant differences were shown in "inner qualities", " interpersonal relationship" and “structure” of the dimensions of leisure constraints. For different seniority groups of nursing staff in Hualien, significant differences were shown in "stucture” of the dimensions of leisure constraints. 8. The correlation between leisure constraints and leisure activity participation of nursing staff in Hualien was significantly negative. 9.
