Popis: | 101 Quality has always been a central issue of the service industry management. Many factors can affect the service quality of medical institutes. Among these factors, for patients on the waiting list of certain examinations, the waiting periods required for their scheduled examinations impose direct impact on the qualiy of medical service. Based on the concept of "multiple regression analysis", we first focused on building a model to predict the monthly amount of sonographic examinations, followed by exploration of the decisive factors which significantly affect the time period required for sonographic examinations. Under the priciples of “Normal Distribution”, the predicted monthly amount of sonographic examinations, together with the decisive factors determining the duration of sonographic examination, were then incoporated to construct an appointment scheduling model which may potentially improve the efficacy of appointment scheduling by fully utilizing current personnels and equipments, resulting in shortened waiting periods for patients on the waiting list. Using multiple regression analysis, our study successfully predicted the monthly amount of sonographic examinations (8000) and identified that both examination types (-0.123,-0.061, p=.000) (such as abdominal sonography, Doppler sonography...etc) and equipment efficacies (-0.165, p =0.000) were two most significant factors that affect the time period required for sonographic examination. With these preceding results, combining the priciples of “Normal Distribution”, we then constructed an improved appointment scheduling method by adjusting the amount and examination types of each sonographic examination room. Compared to the original appointment scheduling, this method significantly increased the total amount of sonographic examintions monthly (5144 vs 5900 per month) without additional personels and equipments, and effectively shortened the waiting periods for paients on the sonographic waiting list. We expect that our shortest waiting time model may also be applied to other image examinations, such as CT or MRI, to improve the efficacy of their appointment scheduling at the Department of Radiology. |
