Work Stress from Zero Corporal Punishment Policy for Teachers Teaching 5-6th Graders

The aim of the study is to explore the influence of work stress for higher grades elementary school teachers in New Taipei City under the policy of zero corporal punishment. To achieve the study purpose, a self-created questionnaire survey was be designed to collect the data. The data was be analysed with SPSS by using the methods of descriptive statistics, Independent Sample t-test, Repeat measure One-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation, One-way ANOVA. The conclusions of the research findings are as follows: 1. The higher grades teachers in elementary school are of medium work stress, 2. The higher grades elementary school teachers often use the “the change of tendency” of methods more than other methods in stress management strategies. 3. The years of teaching experience may contribute differences in work stress on higher grades elementary school teachers in New Taipei City. 4. The genders, the age and the years of teaching experience may contribute differences in stress management strategies on higher grades teachers. 5. The work stress and stress management strategies of the higher grades elementary school teachers in New Taipei City are correlated. The findings and conclusions of this research will provide suggestions for elementary higher grades school teachers, educational organisations, and future researchers.
