This study is based on the theories of economic exchange and social exchange to investigate the impact of job satisfaction on job performance to flight attendants. With the development of the society and the rise of individual awareness, organizations can no longer motivate their employees only by economic rewards. People pursue higher levels of satisfaction in psychological levels in terms of self-esteem, self-develpoment and self-realization. In the economic exchange theory, people only consider instant interests, which is a kind of relatively realistic and interest-oriented short-term transaction type. In the social exchange theory, people, under the exchange of mutual benefit, can maintain a long-term relationaship with equity being the basis of bilateral transaction and psychological satisfaction while the mentality to the satisfaction with job would affect employees’ job performance and other citizenship behaviors benefitting organizations. The results of this study found that the economic exchange relationaship between flight attendants and organizations bears a negative correlation with job satisfaction and job performance, and the level is rather conspicuous. However, if the exchange relationship between flight attendants and organizations is social exchange relationship, then it bears a positive correlation, and the level is also rather conspicuous. We sincerely hope that this study can provide the industries with sound basis of references in recruiting, training, and management.
