Popis: | 101 This paper, adopting the literature analysis method of historical research, explores the “responsibility” aspect of moral education in primary schools of Taiwan. It reviews the aspect of "responsibility" in textbooks and instructional methods and assessments and analyzes its characteristics in the two periods of the 1975 “Life and Ethics" and the 1993 "Morality and Health”. After the implementation of the Grade 1-9 Curriculum in 2001, moral education was blended into the area of language arts especially in Mandarin, Social Studies and Integrative Activities. The research materials include the competence indicators of "responsibility" during the above three periods and related videos, picture books and textbooks from the moral teaching network of the Ministry of Education (MOE), in addition with the analysis of an essay about the instructional and assessment methods. The specific purposes of this study are as follows: Firstly, it analyzes the evolution of moral education curriculum and guidelines from 1975 to 2012. Secondly, it compares the teaching materials of domestic textbooks about "responsibility" in the different periods. Thirdly, it analyzes the instructional and assessment methods for the various periods. Fourthly, it provides teachers with suggestions in their future moral teaching implementations. I In conclusion, the findings of this study can be summarized as follows: Firstly, with differences in the historical background, social changes and trends, consistency can still be found in the "responsibility" behavior practice of the various areas of curriculum for primary school students of the different periods. Secondly, changes and adaptations of teaching materials about “responsibility” can be observed in textbooks of different domestic periods due to the different historical background, social changes and trends. For "Life and Ethics" period, due to political factors at that time, the textbooks were full of patriotism. For "Morality and Health" period, life experiences were taken into account in the teaching materials. For the Grade 1-9 Curriculum period, diverse and lively teaching materials were added increasingly, injecting many interesting elements. Thirdly, a variety of teaching methods are adopted in the different periods of moral education. On top of the direct moral teaching methods and values clarification pedagogy, six E method from the MOE or the teaching methods from the experts such as Qiming Lee, Jinguo Wang are compiled and applied. Assessment methods also evolved: For “Life and Ethics”, they included clarification of ideas and knowledge, examination of behavior and habits for the introspection of children and the assessment by the teachers. For "Morality and Health", they included children self-assessment, peer assessment, the parents assessment, and teacher evaluation. For the Grade 1-9 Curriculum, in addition to the varieties of assessment methods inherited in the above two periods, review method and portfolio assessment were utilized. Fourthly, systematic teaching materials are required for the "responsibility" aspect of moral education. They are subject to the integration of schools with the co-operation between parents, teachers and community. With a variety of teaching methods, allowing students to discuss, reflect, experience and practice in their everyday life after an extensive period of time, there will be quite a significant effect.
