Popis: | 101 The purpose of this study is to examine the performances of the 4-6 graders in different representations of the concept of data variation. This investigator designed a questionnaire, and a total of 30 classes of the elementary grade 4th-6th students from Taipei City, New Taipei City, Keelung and Taoyuan County were selected to participate in this survey. Afterward, we chose 10 students each from the high, middle, and low score groups from each grade for interview. This research design makes use of the independent one factor analysis for inquiring into whether students show difference in comprehension of variation concept in different data representations. This research also utilizes the two-way repeated measures analysis of variance to see if the interaction between grades and characterization are significant. Meanwhile, this research adopts chi-square homogeneity test to understand whether different grade elementary student show the same distribution in their answer to questions. Eventually these procedures will provide conclusion to whether there are differences in different data representations expressed by different graders. The findings are as follows: 1. Performance of sixth graders in the answering papers was significantly better than that of grade four and five students; however, the fourth and fifth graders have shown no significant difference in performance. 2. Students showed the best performance in answering the language representation questions, followed by the image statistical chart representation questions and the symbolic representation type questions (noticing and acknowledging variation concept), furthermore is the chart representation type questions. The worst expression is the numerical and statistical chart representation type questions and the symbolic representation (measuring and modeling variation concept) type questions. 3. Majority of school-children with high marks apprehended variations, and could realize the relationship between each question. They could correspond and verify the detected variation phenomenon of film content or life experience, with the variation expressed in the different data representations, without been influenced by different data representations. On the other hand, medium and low mark school-children could not perform consistently the correspondence and verification works in between these two, besides most of them failed to notice the correlation between topics. |
