Most physical systems in real world are suffered with the external disturbance which is usual poor performance resource of controlled system. Besides, the output energy is minimized for achieving the economical operation of system in practice. For the above reasons, this thesis proposes a mixed performance controller design method for linear systems for dealing with the issues of minimizing output energy and disturbance attenuation performances. In recent years, the mixed performance control approach is based on H2 and H-infinity control theories. In mixed performance control approach, the H2 control theory is employed to minimize the output energy by traditional linear quadratic criterion. And, through the ratio of the energy, the H-infinity control theory is proposed to attenuate or constrain the disturbance effects on system. However, using the H-infinity control theory, one can only design the attenuation performance controller according to the ratio of signal energy but not energy changing of system. So, the H-infinity control theory possesses less flexibility on design procedure and losses generalization in analyzing energy of system. Based on the dissipation performance of electrical circuits, passivity theory provides useful and flexible tool for investigating the stability and attenuation performance of system with setting the power supply rate function. Therefore, the passivity theory is substituted for H-infinity theory in mixed performance method discussed in this thesis. And then, based on the Lyapunov function, the stability conditions are derived into Linear Matrix Inequality (LMI) forms for using the convex optimization algorithm. Finally, two numerical examples are applied to verify the validity and effectiveness of the development theories.
