Design and Implementation of a Stand-alone Photovoltaic Generation System

In this thesis, a dc-dc voltage converter circuit for stand-alone photovoltaic generating system is proposed. In the circuit, a voltage-regulated controller associated with supercapacitor and maximum power point tracking technology is adopted for accurately transferring the photovoltaic generating voltage. This circuit design not only benefits the battery-charging dynamic control, but also helps facilitate the further load application. To validate the performance of the proposed method, two prototypes are made in the laboratory. From the hardware realization, test results under different scenarios revealed that the proposed method is able to reliably provide a dc power for batteries. While the MPPT performances and charging quality can reach the expected level, these test results confirm the method for both academic investigation and practical applications.
