6LoWPAN is one of Internet of Things standard, which allows IPv6 over the low-rate wireless personal area networks. All sensor nodes have their own IPv6 address to connect to Internet. Therefore, the challenge of implementing secure communication in the Internet of Things must be addressed. And the DoS attack method is one of the major attacks in WSN and 6LoWPAN. In this thesis, the major DoS attack methods, such as Jamming attack and Random attack. According to the releated research, the sensor node’s energy will be exhausted by these attacks due to the limitation battery power. For this reason, intrusion detection has become more and more important in WSN and 6LoWPAN. Therefore, a lightweight intrusion detection model based on node’s energy consumed analysis in WSN and 6LowPAN has been proposed in the research. According to the proposed intrusion detection scheme, the variable quantity of energy consumption is used to detect unusually activity in WSN and 6LoWPAN. The proposed energy consumption model for WSN is not only considers the number competing nodes inside the network but also the channel condition. From the result, the proposed Lightweight Intrusion Detection Scheme achieves 100% detection rate from jamming and Random attacks.
