A Study on Money Attitudes, Money Parenting and Consumer Behaviors of Junior High School Students

Popis: | 101 The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship among the money attitudes, money parenting and consumer behaviors for the Junior High School Students. The method of this study was a questionnaire survey. The study utilized the following instruments: “Personal information”, “Money Attitude Scale”, “Money Parenting Scale”, and “Consumer Behavior Scale”. Seven hundred and thirty-seven available questionnaires were selected from the junior high school students in Kaohsiung City. The invested data were analyzed by the following statistical methods, including descriptive statistics, paired-sample t test, independent-sample t test, one-way ANOVA, Person product-moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Through concluding study results and discussion, the conclusions of this study were as follows: In respect of present status of money attitudes, money parenting and consumer behaviors of junior high school students, the highest trend for money attitudes of junior high school students was “distrust” and the lowest trend was “power”. As a whole, parents value money parenting a lot, and among that the situation of “guidance and planning on using money” is the most. For consumer behaviors of junior high school students, the trends of “impulsion-type” and “novelty &; popularity-type” were relatively higher and the trend of “flaunty-type” was relatively lowest. For variables of different background on the differences of money attitudes, the trend of “anxiety” for junior high school students who are girls, third graders was the highest, and for boys, the trend of “power” and “quality” were the highest. Junior high school students who are in urban areas and with highly socio-economic status had higher trend in “quality”. For the differences in money parenting, the behavior on money parenting of junior high school students who are girls, first grader, have saving habits and with highly socio-economic status was higher. For the differences in consumer behaviors, the trend of “impulsive-type” consumer behaviors for junior school students who are girls and have no saving habits was higher; while the boys had higher trend on “flaunty-type” consumer behaviors. For the relevant circumstances on money attitudes and money parenting of junior high school students, there was a significant positive correlation. For the prediction on money attitudes, money parenting and consumer behaviors of junior high school students, “power”, “quality”, “anxiety”, “guidance and planning on using money” and “communication and discussion of money” had a significant prediction on consumer behaviors. Consumer behaviors of junior high school students could be predicted by “power”, “quality”, “anxiety”, “guidance and planning on using money”, “communication and discussion of money ”. Based on the conclusions, this study provides some suggestions for families, schools and the future studies. |
