Summary This study aimed to explore the years before and after the 12-year Compulsory Education in different entrance channels of junior high school students mathematics learning motivation and mathematics learning attitude differences. In this study, 709 valid questionnaires were collected, of which students joining in the open admission program has 370 students. to participate basic competence test has 339 students. Questionnaire used in this study included students basic information, mathematics learning motivation scale and mathematics learning attitude scale. Data collected using the SPSS Windows version16.0, descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, one way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficient and other quantitative analysis. The main conclusions of this study are summarized as follows: 1. The mathematics learning motivation of the junior high school students in Kaohsiung is ordinary 2. The mathematics learning attitude of the junior high school students in Kaohsiung is ordinary 3. The mathematics learning motivation and the mathematics learning attitudes are significantly different by gender. 4. The mathematics learning motivation and the mathematics learning attitudes are significantly different by students who participate in tutoring or not. 5. The mathematics learning motivation and the mathematics learning attitudes are better in high socioeconomic status families students. 6. The mathematics learning motivation and the mathematics learning attitudes have a significant positive correlation between 7. Students who joining in the open admission program and who participate basic competence test, their mathematics learning motivation and mathematics learning attitudes both no significant differences. Based on the resalts, this study suggests that teachers should lower the passing standard to stimulate student interest in learning, improve student learning confidence, increase student’s mathematics learning motivation and improve student’s mathematics learning attitude. And for future researchers, it is recommended to do long-term observation, and to carry out more rigorous questionnaire of related research, in order to judge the 12-year Compulsory Education of the implementation of the students really have a positive help.
