| Popis: | 101 This dissertation is to discover the specific social values and power/ knowledge relations of the representations about the elders in Taiwanese films from the 1980s to 2000s. The representations of the elderly are integrated by daily life symbols and meanings in particular social context. The images of the elders in Taiwanese movies, therefore, are embodied with multiple themes and values that reflect social and historical changes. This study, using narrative analysis, deconstructs six Taiwanese films from the 1980s to the2000s with a multicultural perspective and explains the diverse representations of elders in these films concerning their social and historical experience in Taiwan. In addition, the representations of power/ knowledge relations about the elders emerged as the representations of old people, weaved by social change and historical factors, were discovered and interpreted. |
