A Study on the Relationship between Physical Activity and Peer Relationship of Grades Elementary School Students

The main purposes of the study was to understand elementary school students’ physical activity and peer relationship, and to explore the relationship between physical activity and peer relationship. The research adopted the method of questionnaire, and the research instruments used was the “ Questionnaire survery of the relationship between stndents’ Physical Activity and Peer Relationship in Elementary School”. The participants in this study included elementary school stndents in Yunlin County, Chiayi County and Chiayi City. The materials are out of 116 and 715 effective questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, multiple-comparative Scheffé method and Pearson’s Correlation analysis. The main findings of this research were described as follows: 1. The perceptions of elementary school students in tended to medium-low degree on physical activity and medium-high degree on peer relationship. 2. The physical activity amount of moderate postural children are higher than others, and the physical activity amount of boys in the past seven days are higher than girls. 3. The peer relationship of moderate postural children are batter than others, and the peers favorite of sixth-grade students are better than fifth graders. 4. There was an obvious positive correlation between students’ physical activity and peer relationship in elementary school. According to the findings, suggestions were provided for school counselors. Some topics for future research were also indicated.
