The purpose of the study were to investigate the current situation and public high school students’ perspectives of the evening study program on campus, as well as comparing the possible differences of their perspectives based on their background information. A survey method was employed by using the main instrument, “Questionnaire of Public Senior High School Students’ Perspectives of the Evening Study Program on Campus”. A total of 1130 students from 21 schools were selected randomly in Taiwan; 985 valid questionnaires were received finally. Corresponding statistics were applied to analyze the data, i.e. descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA with the Scheffé Method, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation. The findings of the study were reported as follows: 1. Targeted high school students’ perspectives of the evening study program on campus were reported as three sub-dimensions: the perspective of “planning and system of the evening study program” was at a higher level of cognition and feeing; the perspective of “motivation of attending the evening study program” was at the average level; the perspective of “importance of the evening study program” was at a higher level of agreeing the importance; and the perspective of “effectiveness of the evening study program” was at the average level. 2. For the ANOVA analyses of their perspectives based on their background information: (1) At “planning and system of the evening study program” sub-dimension, there were statistically significant differences in targeted students’ perspectives among the factors of their gender, reason for participation, way of going home after the evening study program, and the two school-based factors (school and the characteristics of the school). (2) At “motivation of attending the evening study program” sub-dimension, there were statistically significant differences in targeted students’ perspectives among the factors of their grade level, reason for participation, planning for ‘after graduation’, way of going home after the evening study program, place that is commonly stayed before the evening study program, and the two school-based factors (school and the characteristics of the school). (3) At “importance of the evening study program” sub-dimension, there were statistically significant differences in targeted students’ perspectives among the factors of reason for participation, planning for ‘after graduation’, way of going home after the evening study program, place that is commonly stayed before the evening study program, amount of attending similar programs before, and the two school-based factors (school and the characteristics of the school). (4) At “effectiveness of the evening study program” sub-dimension, there were statistically significant differences in targeted students’ perspectives among the factors of reason for participation, planning for ‘after graduation’, way of going home after the evening study program, and the two school-based factors (school and the characteristics of the school). 3. For the correlation analyses of their perspectives and the situation of participation: (1) There was significantly positive correlation between targeted students’ perspectives of “planning and system of the evening study program” sub-dimension and students’ performance within the evening study program. (2) There was significantly positive correlation between targeted students’ perspectives of “motivation of attending the evening study program” sub-dimension and the two factors (the total hours of the evening study program within one day and students’ performance within the evening study program). (3) There was significantly positive correlation between targeted students’ perspectives of “importance of the evening study program” sub-dimension and the two factors (the total hours of the evening study program within one day and students’ performance within the evening study program). (4) There was significantly positive correlation between targeted students’ perspectives of “effectiveness of the evening study program” sub-dimension and the two factors (the total hours of the evening study program within one day and students’ performance within the evening study program). 4. Also, there was significantly positive correlation between targeted teachers’ perspectives of “importance of the evening study program” and “effectiveness of the evening study program”. Finally, based on the findings and discussions, concrete recommendations to the educational administration level and the school level were proposed for further improvement of planning and executing the evening study program, as well as for the future studies.
