Assessment of Ecological Education Course in Hui-Sun Forest Station

Popis: | 101 The purpose of this study was to assess the current status of college students’ forest environmental knowledge and the effects of the ecological education course in Hui-Sun forest station. The influence of background variables and the relationship among the three variables were also examined. This study was based on questionnaire and the three conceptions were designed, namely, forest environmental knowledge, forest environmental attitude and environmental behavior intention. The descriptive statistics, paired samples t-test, independent samples t-test, one-way ANOVA and linear regression analysis were adopted in this study. According to the analyses, the results showed that college students performed beyond average in forest environmental knowledge, while being confused to the part of forest policy and carbon sequestration. I also found that the course significantly promoted students’ performance in the three constructs. In addition, students majored in agricultural and literatures were scored remarkably higher in forest environmental knowledge and the environment-related majors were performed significantly positive in environmental behavior intention than other majors in pretest. Besides, female did comparatively better in forest environmental knowledge than male in posttest. The result also indicated that no matter in pretest or posttest, forest environmental knowledge did not significantly relate to forest environmental attitude but had a significant correlation between forest environmental attitude and environmental behavior intention. Nevertheless, forest environmental knowledge wasn’t significantly related to environmental behavior intention. Implications for instructional practice are presented with the results, and recommendations for further research are provided. |
