Dynamic analysis of cage behavior in a NU type single row cylindrical roller bearing

Bearing is an important support of axle or rotary machinery. The damage of bearing will cause the machinery unable to run. The main reason to cause damage of bearing is uneven force acting on the roller or roller colliding with the cage. It will cause the cage becoming unstable then influence the rotation of bearing. Therefore, it is very important to understand the stability of cage and force acting on roller. The NU type single row cylindrical roller bearing is analyzed in this study by using the multi body simulation software “RecurDyn” to understand the dynamic characteristic of this bearing. The running condition of cage and roller are analyzed for different inner rotational speeds, radial loads, and with and without radial clearance. The results show that the cage will be more stable and the force acting on roller will be higher for higher inner rotational speed. However, changing the radial loads will not affect the stability of cage. The stability of cage for situation of no radial clearance is better than having radial clearance, but the rotational speed of cage remains the same.
