The Relationship among Job Characteristics, Personality Traits and Job Satisfactions for the Testing Engineer in Taiwan's High-Tech Industries

| Popis: | 101 The main purpose of this research is to investigate the correlation among job characteristics, personality traits, and job satisfactions for the testing engineer in Taiwan’s High-Tech Industries. The research target is on IC design houses, system vendors, and testing houses in Taoyuan and Hsinchu area. Total questionnaires distributed were 400 sample copies and with 205 effective returns. The return rate reaches 51%. The data analysis method includes descriptive analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis. The major conclusions of this research are listed as follows: 1. The job characteristics had significant relationship with the personality traits. This conclusion is for all testing engineers of both design part (ex: IC design house) and production part (ex: testing house). Testing engineers with higher aspect level for job characteristics will have more positive identification for personality traits. 2. The job characteristics partially had significant relationship with the job satisfactions. For design part testing engineers, the job characteristics had significant relationship with the job satisfactions. For production part testing engineers, the job characteristics had nearly no relationship with the job satisfactions. 3. The personality traits partially had significant relationship with the job satisfactions. For design part testing engineers, the personality traits had nearly no relationship with the job satisfactions. For production part testing engineers, the personality traits had significant relationship with the job satisfactions. 4. Different groups partially had significant difference with job characteristics, personality traits, and job satisfactions. For testing engineers of design part, different position and total job seniority will affect the job characteristics. Senior engineers with more than 10 years work experience had higher and more positive aspect for job characteristics. Likewise, the managers had higher and more positive aspect for job characteristics than engineers. For testing engineers of production part, different position, education and total job seniority will have difference on personality traits. Senior engineers with more than 10 years work experience had higher and more positive aspect for personality traits. The managers also had higher and more positive aspect for personality traits than engineers. Engineers with a master or higher degree had higher and more positive aspect for personality traits. 5. Different company types had significant difference with job characteristics, personality traits, and job satisfactions. Different company types such as IC design house and testing house had significant difference with job characteristics, personality traits, and job satisfactions. Testing engineers of IC design house had more strong and positive aspects on all of job characteristics, personality traits, and job satisfactions. In job characteristic aspect, the factor analysis has the strong conclusion in the research. Variety, Identity, Autonomy, Feedback, and Task significance are necessary for professional testing engineer. Besides, in personality traits aspect, factor analysis also has the following conclusion. Conscientiousness is the essential personality trait to be a competent testing engineer. For holiday overtime and sudden problem from time to time, they need to have emotional stability. Over seventy percent of testing engineers will communicate with customers every day. So extraversion and agreeableness are also necessary traits. Finally, the openness trait will make you advantages for promotion. For the students who want to enter High-Tech Industries in the future, to deeply understand testing engineer characteristics help you to choose the right job and train the relative ability and characteristics at the early date. You can start the career in an advantageous position. |
