The yearly rainfall in Taiwan is fairly rich; however, the time and location of the rainfall is not so even, which cause people in Taiwan get less than 6% of yearly rainfall compared with people all over the world. In terms of water usage, Taiwan is comparatively a water scarcity country. According to the data from Taiwan Water Corporation, 84% of water are domestic water; more than 70% of domestic water are household use water; moreover, the top three of household use water are toilet flushing(28%), laundry(22%), and shower(21%). Thus, how to save water by using water saving facility is important under the water limitation situation. The water heater facility in the dormitory usually takes users a little while to wait for hot water, which leads to wasting a lot of water resource, and so does each family. Therefore, in this research, we will discuss water-saving facility and its development. In order to learn about the water wasting amount before the hot water reaching to 39℃, the investigation shows that gas water heater averagely consumes 3.56L/each time, solar energy water heater consumes 6.70L/each time, and electro-water heater uses up to 7.10L/each time. In regard to school dormitory, which has cold water backflow system, consumes about 2.06-2.36L/each time and the middle size hotel, which uses boiler system, averagely consumes 16.08L/each time. From these data, we can understand that no matter which kind of water heater we use, all consume and waste a lot of water before reaching to a certain degree. Obviously, there is a great potential to think of a water saving solution. Hence, improving the faucet is necessary of which can flow back cold water from the outlet of the faucet and reach the purpose of water and energy saving.
