Improving the Overhead Ground Wire Shielding Angle to Enhance Transmission Line Resistant Lightning Stroke Capacity

Lightning stroke will not only affect the quality of power supply, but also cause the damage to system equipment.The main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the shielding angle of ground wire and the ability for lightning protection in overhead transmission line.We adopt the actual structure size of the on-site tower to analysis and evaluate the lightning withstand level before and after the shielding angle changed via electrical geometric model(EGM).Besides that, we use TFlash software to statistic the annual failure rate for direct strike, back flashover, induced flashover and lightning arrester.At the same time, we simulate the possibility of lightning stroke after installing the lightning arrester via ATP-EMTP program.Finally, we choose 69kV Dapeng-pingtung line to prove the improving of lightning withstand level by shielding angle changed.
