Besides creating value within the product, environmental and social factors are incurred during different stages of production. Corporate social responsibility, emphasizing on sustainable supply chain, has become a growing concern for businesses. Traditional supply chain focused on achieving minimal costs in order to satisfy consumer needs. On the other hand, sustainable supply chain focuses on the limited use of resources to meet customer satisfaction without compromising the future generations. In relation to the exhaustion of resources, companies must think ahead and transition their supply chains in order to avoid any future risks. Sustainable supply chain has three main values: economic, environmental and social. Sustainability is an opportunity and must be applied towards all activities and employees within the company. This report shows the difference between conventional supply chains and sustainable supply chains; the reasons for transitioning; the benefits and challenges with implementing sustainable supply chains; the examples and results of related works; and the needed factors to apply sustainability within supply chains.
