Popis: | 102 The purpose of the study is trying to discuss the naming theory of Chinese-English dishes translation from cross-culture aspect and combine the viewpoint of semiotic and translation theories to explore the translation problems of dishes. The data of this study is based on<Main food&Snacks>, one part of《Měi Shí Yì Yuàn》, which is divided into three groups: dishes name about metaphor, culture event, and place/person. The main structure of this study is focus on the Father of Modern Linguistics ---Swiss linguist Ferdinand de Saussure’s structure linguistics. According to some studies, there are three problems below. First, most of translation methods are focus on the equal translation of sign, not trying to solve the culture obstacles in translation process from language aspects, including arbitrary, meaning and value of sign as well as association and syntagmatic relations. Secondly, Chinese characters are always replaced by English words without same concept. Finally, note adding is used everywhere without serious limitations. This thesis suggests that transliteration should be the primary translation strategy. Also, note adding is a nice way to compensate the context knowledge of target readers. Compare to metaphor and person/place dishes, culture event dishes should take transliteration only, especially for Chinese snacks, because the unique feature of Chinese culture exists in the world. The meaning and contribution of this research is combining the knowledge of linguistics with translation theories to solve the culture obstacles in a more appropriate transition way. By this research, linguistic can connect to daily life in practical and expand its professional knowledge on other fields, for the goal of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary study. |
